Fact, everyone in the industry uses it...becouse everyone in the industry uses it...but the file size is not infact smaller than other advanced compression method files, and (Get this) if your drive crashes its nearly impossible to recover via convential unix based methods (ie everyone who knows enough to recover the files is using ubunta, and when they go to simply sync up...they discover that mac purposely makes it very difficult).
Mac sucks. Its all about selling hardware at twice the cost and abusing this stranglehold they have over the publishing and motion picture world.
You can't order low latency memory, or high speed hard drives for your mac. High end options are virtualy none existent - outside of exeptional monitors...which you can't use to play video games. Becouse this lack of high end options means video game manufactures would rather smash theyre own nuts in a file drawer than design a game for a mac (just as they would rather jump off buildings than thread a single player game for the cell processor...playstation 3 hardware kicks yet sucks ass).
So buy a mac if you wish to spend alot of extra money just to have a computer that matches industry specs... just remember why those are the industries specs.

Music industry is already going back to PCs because of Mac's bullshit. Try finding a multitrack in/out sound card for a Mac for less than a grand.
